Peek-a-boo!

I am a terrible blogger.  Once school is done at the end of April I will have so much free time to write blog posts that people(or I should say my sister Kylie...since she is the only person who reads my blog) will get sick of me.  But for now, my posts will be sparce.

I have been quite the baker this week.  On Tuesday, I whipped up a big batch of oatmeal chocolate chip coconut cookies(to DIE for) and fruit pizza.  Amy also made homemade Mounds bars alongside me.  They were delicious!  I am going to try to make those along with Almond Joys soon.

Today, I have another batch of those cookies in the oven as we speak.  They have been a hit among my friends, especially my J5 boys(a group of my guy friends from college...as a group I refer to them by their apartment number...long story).  I brought 2 dozen cookies to the boys on Tuesday night and they were gone by Wednesday.

Anywho, you can find the delectable recipe for the cookies here.

Highs & Lows Weekly Recap

I'm ALIVE, friends!

School has kept me extremely busy lately, but I am back in business.

Here are my highs and lows of this past week!

Highs:
  • Valentine's Day!  I spent the evening hanging out with my roommate Sarah, since neither of us had valentines.  We made yummy chicken fajitas, rice and beans, and watched The Change-up...which was definitely not as funny as I was expecting.  There were a few parts of the movie where I busted out laughing, but other times I was just bored.
  • I got my secondary research paper back from my public relations professor I got an A! Phew!
  • Finally got the vacation rental for spring break officially booked and paid for.  I cannot wait for vacation!
  • Amy and Mike's engagement party!  Amy, one of my best friends from high school, and Mike got engaged in the fall, and their engagement party was on Friday evening.  Since my roommate Sarah and I are both in their bridal party it was our duty to attend.  I was worried at first because the only people I knew that I would know there were Amy and Mike(obviously), Amy's parents, and Amy's brother and sister.  Thankfully our good friends Kayli and Arik(who are also engaged and will be getting married this May) showed up too.  We had the best time together!  I haven't laughed so hard in a long time!
  • Shopping! I spent Saturday evening shopping with my mom.  I got $19 jeans at Old Navy(I always get the 'Dreamer' style...they are the only jeans I wear...I have 4 pairs of 'Dreamer' jeans!), I also scored a cute pair of yellow and white striped pajama pants from Old Navy that have little anchors all over them. Super cute!  Andddd my week was completely made at Younkers, where I found the cutest cross-body style purse! I have been looking everywhere for one, and I finally found "the one"...and it came with a free umbrella, SCORE!  Mom and I ended our mother-daughter date at T.G.I. Fridays.
 Lows
  • Valentine's Day! ...Yes, it was a high and a low.  Only because I didn't have a valentine. Eh, whatever.
  • Panic attack! That was a good time. Not.  All of my stress from school and spring break planning just boiled over.  After all was said and done, it was good to get all the emotion out.
Overall it was a great week, and hopefully this week is just as great!

How was your weekend? Did you do anything exciting or particularly relaxing?

11

My sister Kylie from Living in a Mitten tagged me in this fun little blogger game...however, it's hard for me.

You are supposed to list 11 facts about yourself, answer 11 questions that the blogger who tagged you asked, write your own 11 questions to ask, and then tag 11 blogs, and the game goes on.  Problem is, the only blogs I follow are Living in a Mitten and Bright Wishes.  Instead of being a party pooper, I just decided to play the game my own way, by answer the 11 questions that Kylie asked me...

So here they are!
1.  Who was your favorite band/musician as a child?
N*SYNC, without a doubt.
2.  What is your favorite restaurant?
The Beltline Bar.  Seafood enchiladassss, can I get a 'what what'?!
3.  If you could spend your life living in any other place, where would it be?
Somewhere on the east coast.  Literally right on the water.
4.  Your weirdest dream/nightmare included (finish the sentence):
my roommate and I going to a party in Wisconsin(?!) where we met Luke Bryan and Jake Owen. Best. Dream. Ever.
5.  What do you think you will be like 30 years from now?
Hopefully still living in Michigan(if not, oh well), married with kids(maybe grandkids?! yikes!), still working for an advertising agency and counting down the days until I can retire.
6.  Who is your FAVORITE celebrity?
Vinny Guadagnino from Jersey Shore. Love hims.
7.  Who is your LEAST favorite celebrity?
Kanye West. Rude.
8.  If you HAD to choose a totally different career path, what would it be?
I would LOVE to be a nurse.  That was my career goal up until my senior year of high school when I realized what college classes I would have to take and how hard nursing school was going to be(if I even got in...)
9.  What would be your biggest fear?
Failure.
10.  One word that describes you?
Average.
11.  What is your favorite thing about blogging?
It is like a glorified diary! :)

Link it up! <--My first link-up! :)

Today I am linking up with Bright Wishes for Wednesday Wishes!

1. A brand new WHITE Jeep Grand Cherokee

While I am SO grateful for the 2002 Impala that I have had since my senior year of "hike school"(Billy Madison reference...), I can't help but get frustrated when things go wrong with it...especially since now it is my responsibility to pay for repairs.  Maybe when I graduate college next spring I will treat myself to a new(to me) car. ;) ...No, but seriously.
2. An elliptical

Working out on the elliptical is by far one of my favorite workouts to do at the campus rec center!  Although, I am very picky when it comes to which elliptical I use there.  I like the ones at the campus rec center that are like the one in this picture, where your feet glide up and down...why? I don't know...

3. Nike Free running shoes

I love me a sharp pair of kicks.  I especially have been wanting new Nike+ shoes since my dog decided that my last pair of Nike+ shoes would make a good chew toy.
This is Reagan, my Irish Setter.  Aside from the fact that he chewed my favorite Nikes, I think he is the bomb and I love him.  Get used to seeing his name in my blog posts, I talk about him a lot.

What are you wishing for this lovely Wednesday?

Survivor Weekend!

This little event called Survivor Weekend occurred about 2 1/2 weeks ago, but it was so fun that I had to write about it!

The army tents.  They were legit. Complete with wood stoves in each one.
Survivor took place in the back of an apple orchard(land owned by my friend Kirk's parents).  The boys set up two massive army tents, complete with wood stoves in them to keep us toasty at night, a flag pole with a rebel flag(...boys...), and a pole to hang any kills the boys made that weekend(rabbits, squirrels, etc.).

The beer can tree and the killings of the weekend.

Over the one night that I stayed there I became very comfortable with peeing in the woods, although I stayed alert in case the bobcat that the boys heard(...which ended up being a joke) decided to say hello.  Also, in the ONE night that I was there, I managed to lose my beloved Blackberry Torch.  My friend and I were riding a quad through the orchard trails together and at some point of the ride my phone bounced out of my pocket.  Despite many walks through all of the trails the next day, the phone was nowhere to be found.  I am sure it is busted up into little pieces under the snow and mud.

RIP Blackberry Torch 9800 (*This is not my actual phone...I am sure it looks 20x worse.)
The whole Survivor experience was a blast.  It was a day and night filled with a toasty campfire, quad rides, singing songs by the fire with beers in everyone's hands, amazing food cooked over, and sleeping on hay in the toasty army tents.  What a great way to end my Christmas break!

Have you been on a fun camping trip with friends?

Extra, Extra! Read All About It! (First blog post ever!)

For those who may follow me in the future, I thought I would start off with a blog post about my blog name.

You may be thinking 'What the heck is up with your blog name?  Are you a hillbilly pageant queen?' Actually, no...I am not.  I am a 21-year-old from the Midwest region of the U.S., Michigan to be exact.  My small town has a population of less than 3,000 people and probably 60% of those people hunt, fish, or do something outdoorsy.  I fish once in a blue moon, honestly I would love to go fishing more often, but I don't want to fish alone...can you blame me?  I don't hunt...yet! I am going to take hunter's safety sometime this spring so that I can start deer hunting in the fall.  I have been wanting to take up hunting since I was in high school, but I didn't really have any land to do it on, and this past summer I had a friend tell me I could hunt with him.  I consider myself pretty outdoorsy.  I love camping, riding quads, sitting around a bonfire, boating, and such.  So that this where the first part of my blog name, 'Camouflage', came from...my country up-bringing.

Now, about that last part, 'Glitter'...I really don't wear anything glittery,  but I thought that would be a good "girly" word to throw into my blog name.  While I do enjoy camping, fishing and wear jeans and a hoodie(or a t-shirt...depends on the weather) 80% of the time, I like to get dressed up once a while, too!  I am pretty good at putting "my face"(makeup on), and I like wearing dressy shirts and sometimes dresses and heels to go out to bars.  When I get all dolled up I feel great.  But nothing ends a night better than going home, scrubbing all the makeup off my face, throwing my hair into a messy ponytail and putting on my comfy sweats. :)

And so 'Camouflage & Glitter' was born.
